Roadheader Hydraulic Cylinder RFQ Checklist for OEM Buyers

A detailed roadheader hydraulic-cylinder RFQ checklist covering dimensions, loads, pressure, underground duty and verified manufacturing ranges.

Roadheader hydraulic cylinders operate in heavy-load, dusty underground conditions, so an RFQ must describe more than nominal bore and stroke. A strong technical package gives the manufacturer enough information to review geometry, pressure, load, mounting and environmental constraints before quoting an OEM or replacement cylinder.

Identify the Roadheader Function

Start with the roadheader or tunneling-machine model and the cylinder function. Explain where the cylinder is installed, what it moves and the critical direction of force. The verified product information identifies roadheaders used in underground tunneling projects and matching with tunneling boring machines (TBM).

Required Dimensional Information

  • Bore and rod diameters, including units and controlled tolerances.
  • Stroke, retracted length, extended length and pin-to-pin lengths.
  • Mounting styles, pin diameters, bearing widths and allowable side clearance.
  • Rod-end and base-end geometry, including orientation.
  • Port thread, size, location and angle relative to the mountings.
  • Space restrictions and nearby components that could interfere during travel.

Required Operating Data

  • Normal working pressure and any known peak or shock-pressure condition.
  • Maximum push and pull loads and the machine geometry that creates them.
  • Target extension and retraction speed, cycle frequency and expected duty.
  • Hydraulic-fluid information supplied by the machine owner.
  • Ambient temperature and exposure to dust, mud, water or underground contaminants.
  • Any requirement for synchronized movement, position sensing or special interfaces, if applicable to the buyer’s design.

Verified Roadheader Cylinder Capability Range

Bore diameter25–400 mm
Rod diameter12–300 mm
Stroke21–10,000 mm
Working pressure2.5–35 MPa
Pulling forceUp to 2,400 kN
Working temperature−40 to 110 °C
Matching referenceTunneling boring machine (TBM)

These limits show the verified product-family range. They do not mean every maximum value can be combined in one design. Final feasibility depends on load, stroke, stability, material, mounting, pressure and the complete operating cycle.

Why Underground Conditions Must Be Stated

The verified product description specifies a high-strength cylinder tube, wear-resistant piston rod and dust-proof sealing components for heavy-load, dusty underground work. However, the buyer should still disclose the actual contamination and temperature conditions. This lets the engineering review address the intended application instead of relying on a generic mining-cylinder assumption.

For Replacement Projects

Provide the original drawing and nameplate data when available. If no drawing exists, measure the complete unit and photograph the installed cylinder before removal. Record mounts, pins, ports, hose routing, full travel and any evidence of interference. State the failure mode separately—leakage, bent rod, damaged mounting or loss of motion—without assuming the replacement should reproduce a damaged dimension.

For New OEM Designs

Supply the machine layout, installation envelope and load path. Define the approval sequence: engineering drawing review, prototype quantity, machine-fit validation and production release. If several cylinder functions are included, prepare a separate data sheet for each part number so revisions cannot be mixed.

Commercial Information for a Quote

  • Prototype quantity, production quantity and forecast demand.
  • Delivery destination and requested timing.
  • Required inspection, test or identification documents.
  • Packaging and corrosion-protection expectations for transport and storage.
  • Drawing ownership, revision-control and approval contacts.

Common RFQ Mistakes

Copying dimensions from another roadheader

Machine models and mounting geometry can differ. Use controlled data from the target equipment.

Providing a force without its direction or geometry

The supplier needs the real load case, including whether it acts in extension or retraction.

Ignoring long-stroke stability

A long stroke must be reviewed with rod size, mountings, load and operating orientation; stroke alone is not enough.

Omitting dust and temperature conditions

Underground contamination and temperature affect the design discussion and should be explicit in the RFQ.

FAQ

Can a roadheader cylinder be customized from a drawing?

Yes. The verified product information states that OEM and ODM customization is available according to customer drawings, and every cylinder passes strict pressure testing before delivery.

Is a catalog range a final design recommendation?

No. It is a capability reference. The actual cylinder must be selected and reviewed against the machine’s complete technical data.

Review the wider Zhenqiang hydraulic-cylinder program, then submit a complete roadheader data package for technical evaluation.
