Question: What should a buyer specify for hydraulic cylinder testing before shipment?
Answer: Put the test scope in the purchase specification: identify the cylinder and drawing revision, method, conditions, acceptance limits, record format, coverage, witness/hold points and action after failure. “Pressure tested” alone is too vague. Refer to the manufacturer’s site for product context and the Quality Control page for public quality information, but do not infer an unlisted test pressure.
Evidence: the standard has a defined scope
ISO 10100:2020 is titled “Hydraulic fluid power — Cylinders — Acceptance tests.” ISO states it specifies acceptance and function tests for hydraulic fluid power cylinders; its catalog shows the 2020 edition confirmed in 2026. Buyers still need to agree the exact contractual test plan. See the official ISO 10100 catalog entry.
Turn a request into a verifiable plan
- Identification: serial/batch, part number and drawing revision.
- Configuration: ports, seals, fluid, mounting and setup affecting results.
- Stages: visual/dimensional, function, leakage or other tests called for by the design or contract.
- Conditions: pressure, duration, stroke, speed and temperature—specified by the responsible engineer, never guessed.
- Acceptance: measurable limits, allowed observations and instrument range.
- Coverage: every-unit or sample testing and how samples are selected.
- Records: values, pass/fail, date, equipment ID, operator and nonconformance reference.
- Witness: notice, hold points, remote/on-site method and release authority.
Separate design verification from production acceptance
Prototype validation may include testing not repeated on every production unit. A final acceptance test may not demonstrate fatigue life or long-term corrosion performance. State which question each test answers. A functional test can show motion through an agreed stroke under an agreed setup; it does not prove performance under every load, temperature or duty cycle.
Release checklist
Match each test report to the order, approved drawing and cylinder identification. Resolve deviations in writing, attach the agreed record and retain it with batch documents. The Trung tâm Tri thức provides related selection guidance; the buyer-approved specification controls acceptance.
