Question: What should a B2B buyer specify for hydraulic cylinder packaging?
Answer: State route and handling environment, packed dimensions, corrosion and contamination protection, rod/port protection, lifting and stacking constraints, labeling, package quantity and document needs. Then approve a plan for the actual configuration. The manufacturer’s product information does not itself define a shipment pack-out.
Start with travel and storage risks
- Route: inland handling, port transfers, sea/air transport, transshipment and last mile.
- Exposure: humidity, salt air, rain, dust, temperature swings and expected storage duration.
- Product protection: agree how exposed rod surfaces are protected from impact and corrosion and ports from debris/moisture.
- Load restraint: prevent rolling, rubbing or shifting; protect machined ends, pins, threads and sensors.
- Handling: package weight, lifting points, center of gravity, fork access and stacking limits.
- Identification: part number, revision, quantity, package number, weight and destination labels.
- Documents: packing list, preservation instructions, photos or records required by the buyer.
Evidence: accept packaging at pack-out
The OEM cooperation page lists packaging and documents among batch-order considerations. “Export wooden case” is not a complete specification: restraint, moisture protection and handling access vary. Define inspection before closure and who may approve a substitution.
Pre-shipment inspection
Before closure, reconcile each cylinder with the packing list, inspect caps and surface protection, verify restraint does not load fragile features, and record visible identification. If a package is opened at destination, define how preservation will be restored.
For regulated wood packaging, verify current destination and transit requirements with the forwarder or competent authority. A generic supplier statement does not establish compliance in every country.
Make the approved package drawing or checklist part of the order revision. The Centre de connaissances provides product context, while the packaging specification makes repeat shipments auditable.
Next step
Send destination, route and cylinder list to agree on a packing specification.
